This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to play a pivotal role in the evolution of IT capabilities to support the unique mission of the Jackson Laboratory to harness the power of genomics to deliver precision medicine, targeted prevention and specific cures.
The Senior IT Architect reports to the Director of Business Applications and works with other IT teams, business leaders, consultants and end users to define strategy direction and priorities for Information Technology initiatives. The IT Senior Architect is Responsible for the Information Architecture of the Jackson Laboratory. Provides consultation to Jax Informatics across domains and assures alignment with upstream and downstream elements of the Enterprise Architecture. The ideal candidate is a visionary that leads the investment analysis in technologies that support the mission of laboratory. You must demonstrate a mastery of a variety of best practices, concepts and data architecture to support analytic and operational reporting. The Senior IT Architect will have primary responsibility for setting the strategy and vision for the team. This position will lead an existing team as they transition an existing DW/BI solution into a new Business Objects environment.
Responsibilities:
Creates and maintains the Technology Solution Framework that spans all areas of Jax Informatics
Facilitates the migration to the new architectures in a way that enables and supports the strategic plan
Act as a department expert in the process of creating and managing the technical level of the architecture
Act as a visionary and advocate for the architecturess Communicates and educates the organization on the strategy and physical architecture. Provides advice and consulting support to the project teams directly or through team members.
Works closely with IT Demand Managers to evolve the domain architectures based on demand and strategies.
Maintains a close understanding of the business issues, operating procedures and priorities. Looks for opportunities to improve organization's agility.
Identifies the required architecture component and frameworks. Prioritizes the architecture deliverables and establishes short term, mid-term and long term plans. Resolves issues between short term and long term plans.
Collaborates with IT Management to set an overall strategy for Jax IT projects, with the goal of implementing specific components of the architecture
Leads architectural forums with technical resources across the department.
Required Skills
Methodology: Deep experience in methods, techniques and tools for defining, selecting and testing components of information architectures. Validates architectural configurations.
Innovation: Leads the organization in the adoption of the architectural principles and incorporates those principle into project implementations.
Process Improvement: Demonstrated experience in introducing and educating on best practices for IT architecture development. Drives the organization to improve efficiencies and reduce cost.
Collaboration: Experience working closely with IT, business and vendor resources to develop strategies that support the architecture. Fosters a deep understanding of the architecture solutions and their relationship to operational issues.
Delivery: Provides excellent technical leadership and is delivery driven, with a demonstrated ability to deliver results in a complex, dynamic organization.
Required Experience
Master's degree in Computer Science and 10 years' experience in leading technology investment strategies at the enterprise level.
This role requires 5-9 years' experience in strategic planning and IT strategy at the global level
Successful candidate will have a proven track record of in Information Architecture with an enthusiastic ambition to strengthen and expand beyond the status quo.
Must have a broad knowledge and experience across the IT landscape (business, applications, information, integrations, platforms, networks, security and systems management).
Proven experience in defining architecture strategies that are viable from both a financial and technical perspective.
Thorough knowledge of systems architectures, data architectures and enterprise integration concepts and practices.
This role requires 5-9 years' experience in implementing enterprise architectures (data/applications/technical).
Experience working in a regulated environment. Life Sciences experience preferred.
Project Management experience required. PMI certification preferred.
ITIL Certification preferred
Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
