Job Description
Are you a highly motivated database administrator with strong skills? Are you interested in getting exposure to many diverse technology platforms? If so, The Jackson Laboratory has a great opportunity for you in beautiful Down East Maine. We are seeking a Database Administrator with solid experience developing and maintaining complex database systems. The successful candidate will have in-depth experience with Microsoft SQL Server. The ideal candidate will also have experience with other RDBMS such as MySQL or Oracle. Working knowledge of NoSQL platforms such as MongoDB would be a plus.
Provide first-level applications support: Resolve problems and answer questions related to the RDBMS and platform environment
RDBMS performance monitoring and tuning
Maintain database backup/recovery environment
Install and upgrade RDBMS and related products
Reorganize database structures as needed
Perform application refreshes on request
Develop rules, procedures, and standards for the access and maintenance of shared data resources
Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of DBA tools and new DBMS technologies
Required Experience
Ability to work in a team environment to analyze, recommend, design and deliver solutions that solve problems presented by the user community.
Ability to prioritize and deliver solutions in a timely manner, usually under pressure and shifting priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting technical concepts to peers.
Demonstrated experience implementing and managing a complex RDBMS solution using Microsoft SQL Server
3 years in-depth experience in the design, administration, programming, and support of Microsoft SQL Server. Experience with other RDBMS platforms a plus.
Ability to handle basic systems administration tasks to fulfill backup role if needed
Demonstrated experience working well with customers of varying levels of technical expertise in high-pressure situations and complex environments
Highly desirable that individual has earned certification as a developer or DBA such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
